In the U.S., communities of color face increased risks and exposure to climate-related events, such as extreme heat, with Latinos being particularly vulnerable. We partnered with Grist to raise awareness and engagement on climate crisis.
The Goal
Polls and studies indicate that Latinos are increasingly aware of the threat climate change poses to their livelihood and health. In fact, 71% of Hispanic adults believe climate change affects their local community, and 81% describe global climate change as a top personal concern. However, resources and information in Spanish is not as often found online.
The Strategy
Grist partnered with HCN Global to transcreate stories aimed at raising awareness and engagement on climate crisis issues with the goal to educate Spanish-speaking audiences about the causes and impacts of the climate crisis, while also offering solutions.
The results
The campaign reached over 26 million gross impressions via 160+ HCN Global affiliated radio stations and generated over 14K video views on social media.
The deliverables
For the pilot initiative, HCN developed three (3) multimedia production sets by transcreating existing Grist content as Spanish-language productions for dissemination on HCN’s La Red Hispana national multimedia networks. The production sets included web articles, videos and social media posts.
